Thanks Jim.

I appreciate your comments.

I'm also looking forward to Euro 2012. I doubt the Dutch will be allowed to play like that again so it does look like it might be a competition between Germany and Spain.
Who knows though - England, France and Italy might have sorted themselves out by then.
We'll see.

Again I agree with almost everything you say.

You said 'Sometimes I found myself getting annoyed that they had just achieved in 20 passes what other teams could have done in 2'

I love the passing game as played by Spain and Arsenal but watching both I have the your reaction. The emerging truth seems to be that the passing game played well enables you to dominate the game but at some point you do have to use two passes instead of 20 in order to get the ball into the net. A similar argument applies to Germany with their reliance on break football - their has to be a well rehearsed plan B.

Overall I was quite disappointed in the tournament. I have always preferred the European Championship and look forward to it again in two years' time. I shall keep a special eye on the group involving Holland and be keeping my fingers crossed that Holland do not qualify. I can't believe their reaction to Howard Webb's performance. As you say, Van Brommel could have been sent off three times.
